BGI and BIUST Sign MOU

Botswana Geoscience Institute (BGI) and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that marks the beginning of a relationship to collaborate on several areas.

In this collaboration, each party will support each other towards the fulfilment of its respective mandate that includes Research and Development.

BGI CEO, Mr Tiyapo H. Ngwisanyi, applauded the signing of the MoU and described it as a milestone that will help BGI establish itself especially that it is a new organisation in its second year of operation.

Speaking at the signing in Lobatse, BIUST Vice Chancellor, Professor Otlogetswe Totolo, said, through the partnership, the parties inted to advance Botswana towards a knowledge based economy with appropriate skills required to produce necessary products and services. He said the MoU signifies the two organisations intension to deepen their commitment to the nations goals and ensure achievement in research commercialisation, innovation and growth in technology.

Professor Totolo also indicated that, such MoUs are necessary as they promote sharing of resources and avoid duplications and thereby reducing waste in all respects.
